Story Concept
- The story is about the actual founding of the future Maple Grove by Joseph Henderson the grandson of Jakob Henderson.
- This story begins at a location on a small dirt road. He has been traveling on his land holdings all morning and has stopped at a beautiful site with access to the river and a stand of good timber. The open meadow is large and would need little work to build a homestead and small farm.
- As he walks the area he sees a small cabin and investigates. Here he meets a squatter named Frenchy LaRoach and his woman (unnamed).
